Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon Resort

Directly translating to “Secret Water Island”, Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon Resort is a luxurious all-villa resort.

Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon Resort

I love that at the Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon Resort, each of the 120 villas features a gorgeous private pool. It’s located in the Shaviyani Atoll in North Maldives just a 55-minute seaplane ride from Male and the island has a gorgeous nine kilometer-long house reef directly accessible from the beach.

Spread over a 16 hectares of a 600-hectare lagoon the Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon Resort is a secluded paradise, boasting a perfect fusion of white sandy beaches, lush forests and untouched ocean. It's home to the world's first coral regeneration project, the longest infinity pool in Maldives, and prides itself on attentive yet unpretentious service.

Upon arrival I was introduced to my butler, who whisked me into an electric buggy, and off down sandy, shaded paths to reach my villa. There are several options to choose from at Fairmont Maldives, from sun-kissed beach cabins to tranquil tented jungle homes and idyllic over-water bungalows.

Accommodation at Sirru Fen Fushi

My one-bedroom sunset beach villa was a few steps away from the clear, warm ocean and the ivory sand, which was home to curious hermit crabs. Inside, the super-king bed was adorned with a beautiful, intricate decorative net that hung from the traditional Maldivian thatched roof. The villa featured matching dressing rooms-cum-bathrooms with a separate walk-in shower and toilet. At the back of the villa, there was a secret garden, complete with a large bathtub and shower, providing a luxurious and completely private al-fresco bathing experience under the shade of palm trees.

The interiors of all the villas on the island were inspired by traditional Maldivian design, featuring local crafts, textiles, and artwork, which captured the unique local spirit of the area. Outside, a plunge pool overlooked the Indian Ocean through a gap in the mangroves. As soon as I arrived, I slipped into my flip-flops, immersing myself in the relaxed island lifestyle, and didn't put them on again until it was time to leave.

Dining at Sirru Fen Fushi

The charming Sirru Fen Fushi island boasts four unique restaurants, each with its own identity and menu. Our mornings started with breakfast at Raha Market, the resort's dining hub, where we indulged in a variety of traditional Maldivian dishes and international cuisine. We also enjoyed the beautiful open-air bar, Onu Onu, with its thatched roof created by Balinese artisans, savoring a pina colada while watching the stunning sunset. Azure offered another spectacular sea-front dining experience, featuring a delectable seafood menu, with an array of octopus, lobster, and king prawns.

For a truly special meal, we dined at Kata, the signature Japanese restaurant of Fairmont, built over the water and celebrating the ocean's glorious seafood. Here, we savored sushi and sashimi accompanied by champagne, while watching the reef sharks feeding in the water below. The range of dining options at Sirru Fen Fushi offered us an unparalleled culinary experience, making our stay all the more unforgettable.

Staying at Sirru Fen Fushi

Every moment is infused with a sense of being in the very best hands. Whether you're joining Lamy for sunrise yoga, exploring the Coralarium with Sam, or indulging in a rejuvenating massage with Rung at the Willow Stream Spa, each experience is simply exceptional.

A particualr highlight was the world-renowned infinity pool. This iconic pool stretches across the entire island, offering the perfect photo-op for an Instagram-worthy shot. The pool's design is simply stunning, as massive palm trees grow out of the water, further adding to the sense of tropical paradise that surrounds you.
