Maldives ends traveller declaration requirement for departing passengers

Maldives Streamlines Departure Process for Outbound Travellers

In line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's goal to improve the travel experience, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, the Controller General of Maldives Immigration, has announced that from August 15, 2024, outbound travellers from the Maldives will no longer need to fill out the 'Traveller Declaration' form. This move reflects the government's dedication to enhancing travel efficiency.

According to circular 94-CBS/CIR/2023/1 (dated 12.12.2023), this elimination of the form simplifies the departure process, cutting down on the time needed for travel preparations and enhancing the overall convenience for travellers. This improvement is expected to be particularly advantageous for frequent travellers and business professionals, allowing for a smoother and faster passage through the airport.

While the requirement for the 'Traveller Declaration' form has been discontinued for outbound travellers, it remains mandatory for all incoming travellers to the Maldives to complete this form 96 hours prior to their arrival. All essential security and immigration screenings will continue to ensure the safety and security of all travellers.

This update is part of the Maldives' continued efforts to bolster its standing as a leading travel destination, celebrated for its hospitality and operational efficiency. Source Credit: https://www.immigration.gov.mv/maldives-streamlines-departure-process-for-outbound-travellers/
