JOALI

As I arrived at this island of joy, radiant with nature’s gifts, my heart soared.

JOALI Maldives

Ever since its grand opening in October 2018, JOALI Maldives, a visionary creation of Turkish entrepreneur Esin Güral Argat, has beckoned me for a visit. Situated on the idyllic Muravandhoo island in Raa Atoll, JOALI stands as a pinnacle of luxury amidst one of the world's most expansive and profound atolls. This haven is not just about luxury; it's an underwater paradise for SCUBA enthusiasts, boasting deep azure waters and pristine white-sand beaches.

Upon arrival at Malé's airport, the journey to JOALI begins with a sense of grandeur, thanks to their exclusive private lounge. The resort, a quick seaplane ride away, occupies the spacious 24-acre Muravandhoo Island, allowing guests to immerse themselves in its natural splendor. Join me on this journey as I share what I loved about my stay at JOLAI, a ultra luxury resort, or jump straight to my Instagram story.

Accommodation at JOALI

JOALI's 73 villas, ranging across 11 distinct categories and featuring thatched roofs crafted by local artisans, offer a unique blend of luxury and tradition. Each villa boasts a large private pool, with the family beach villas offering two. The interiors exude elegance and space, featuring high vaulted ceilings, oversized beds, and expansive bathrooms with standalone bathtubs.

The design elements, including a marble-and-rose-gold drinks bar and outdoor rain showers with vibrant green bamboo tiles, reflect the creative flair of design studio Autoban. For those who love sunsets, the jetty villas are a must-stay.

Dining at JOALI

Culinary delights at JOALI are manifold, with a special highlight being the mixology masterclass led by Vix, the bar manager at Saoke. The Japanese-Peruvian restaurant here is a must-visit, not just for the delectable Nikkei cuisine but also to admire the architectural brilliance of Noriyoshi Muramatsu. Italian culinary gems await at Bellinis, while Vandhoo offers a pan-Asian dining experience to remember.

Art and Immersion at JOALI

JOALI, proudly female-owned, distinguishes itself as the Maldives' first art-immersive resort. With an art map in hand, guests can explore various installations, from the coral sculpture at the spa to the awe-inspiring manta ray treehouse. These pieces are not just decorative; they're gateways to a deeper understanding of art and environment.

Staying at JOALI

The service at JOALI is unparalleled, with personalized attention from dedicated ‘jadugars’ or private butlers. The resort offers a plethora of activities - from art classes at the Art House to adventurous water sports at the Dive Centre. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the well-equipped gym and the serene yoga platform, while the JOALI Spa by ESPA provides holistic treatments for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Snorkelling at JOALI

The Raa Atoll's vastness makes snorkeling and diving here extraordinary. JOALI's commitment to marine conservation is evident through their work with resident marine biologists and contributions to NGOs like the Olive Ridley Project. The JOALI Reef Restoration Programme is a testament to their dedication to coral restoration, offering guests an opportunity to participate in meaningful environmental efforts.
